One of the first animals to greet you on arrival in Galápagos is the sea lion. There is a population of around 50,000, so they are a common sight on most islands.

An Introduction to Guayaquil
Guayaquil is the gateway to the Galápagos Islands and the largest city in Ecuador. Located on the banks of Rio Guayas, it is the nation’s main port and commercial centre.
Wildlife Focus: Blue-footed Booby
The Blue-footed Booby is one of my favourite sea birds to be found in the Galapagos. They are easily identifiable by their bright blue feet (the clue is in the name!). Their plumage is brown on top, with a white under belly and slightly darker brown wings.
Island Spotlight: Isla Bartolomé
Bartolomé is one of my favourite islands to visit when in the Galápagos. It’s a must see stop for cruise ships as well as a popular day trip from Santa Cruz due it’s close location. (It’s only about an hour by boat.) Despite being relatively small in size it has one of the most iconic views in the Galápagos.
