Mindo Cloudforest
“Birds and Cacao”
We will depart early morning from Quito heading to the northwest of Ecuador. Our first stop will be at the Pululahua Reserve to observe one of the active craters in the Andes and its beautiful flora. After a short ride along the mountains by the Calacali road, we will visit the Alambi Garden, where we will see several different species of hummingbirds. On our way to Mindo we will stop in Nanegalito to try organic coffee that is cultivated in the local area.
We will arrive in Mindo with plenty of time for walking around the impressive waterfalls and cloudforest, as well as a visit to the butterfly farm to see the most colorful insects in the forest and their breeding process. In the afternoon we will have a chocolate tour where the local expert will show us the process of how to make this famous and tasty product from the cacao seed to the bar.
We will enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by a great view of the forest and birds.
At the end of the day we will departure to Quito.
